Bio

Bob graduated from Blackhawk in 1974 where he was a 3-year starter and letterman on the basketball team. He was the team leader of assists in 1973 and 1974 and the team defensive player of the year in 1974. After graduation from Blackhawk, Bob attended Penn State Beaver for two years, where he was a two-year starter and letterman. He led in assists both years and was First Team All Skyline Conference during the 1975-1976 season. He set a school record for assists (15) in a game.

Bob Amalia started coaching the Blackhawk American Legion baseball team in 1988. Since then they have won 515 of 665 games. The Blackhawk High School teams from 1999 to the present have amassed a record of 166 wins and 77 losses.

Amalia led his 2003 American Legion team to a State Championship. Beside the 2003 State Championship, Amalia has guided his legion teams to the state finals in 00 and 01. They were regional Champs in 93, 00, 01, 02, 03, and 06, and Beaver County Champions in 91, 93, 01, 02, 03, 04, 06, and 09. His teams participated in the National Legion Tournament in 93, 00, 01, and 03, and were the only county team to accomplish that feat.

Amalia's Blackhawk High School team won a WPIAL Championship in 04, the first in school history. They were PIAA Western Finalists in 02, 03, and 07, WPIAL Finalists in 02, 03, and 07, and Section Champs in 02, 03, 04, 05, 09, and 10. The 03 team won a school record 21 games. Overall players from his high school teams have over two dozen scholarships.

Amalia was inducted into the American Legion Hall of Fame in 2001.
