Beaver Drops Last Home Game of the Season
Heartbreaking loss in set 2 leads to Beaver defeat.
Monaca, PA – Penn State Beaver Women's Volleyball hosted Penn State Greater Allegheny this afternoon in a PSUAC conference match. Beaver took this game to celebrate All-Start Appreciation fest for faculty and staff as well as breast cancer awareness month with a pink out.
As the match started both teams came out firing with trading points back and forth for most of the first set. As the set went on Greater Allegheny built the biggest lead of the set to go up 21-15. Although Greater Allegheny was only within four points of winning the set, Beaver fought back all the way until Greater Allegheny had the lead 24-22 before losing set one 25-22. Set two was even closer than set one. This time Beaver had the biggest lead of the set at 14-10. Greater Allegheny came back to take the lead 20-19, but Beaver responded with a five-point run to make it set point at 24-20. Greater Allegheny did not give up and stormed back to extend the set. The teams were going back and forth once again, and no team was able to grab the win until Greater Allegheny finally took a two-point lead to win the set 31-29. Greater Allegheny was able to carry this momentum into the third set and shocked Beaver by getting off to an 18-4 lead. This deficit was too much for Beaver to come back from and they lost set three 25-10 and the match 3-0.
Penn State Beaver Women's Volleyball plays their next match away at Community College of Beaver County on October 17th at 7:00pm.
