Monaca, PA – Penn State Beaver Women's Volleyball faced off against Penn State New Kensington this afternoon in a PSUAC Conference match. Beaver also celebrated their fourth-year students Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) and Alexis Reid (Clinton, NC) before today's match.
Beaver came out to play hard for their seniors and took 7 of the first 10 points and held an early lead. Their momentum did not waver for the rest of the set, and they went on to take set one by a score of 25-15. The second set of the match looked very similar with Beaver taking 7 of the first 11 points of set. Once again, they had an early lead and never gave it back to win set two 25-17. Beaver carried a 2-0 lead in the match headed into the fourth set. With all the momentum Beaver went on a massive 9 point run early in the set to take the lead 14-3. This deficit was too large for New Kensington to overcome, and Beaver won set three 25-11 and took the win in the match 3-0.
