Rough Road Trip Leads to Loss for Beaver at Penn State New Kensington
The Lady Lions took a short trip to Penn State New Kensington to take on another PSUAC competitor and left with another loss in 3 sets.
New Kensington, PA - The Lady Lions struggled once again on the court. The team traveled to take on another PSUAC competitor, Penn State New Kensington and dropped 3 sets while on the road. The final set scores were 25-18, 25-14, and 25-8 all ending in favor of Penn State New Kensington. Though there was some struggle as the ending scores show there were some positives as the women fought through each set.
Leading the team for Beaver was 1st year, Julianna Butler (Franklin, PA) who had an outstanding 19 digs, 4 kills, and 2 solo blocks. Following that performance was 2nd year, Sofia Perez (Bogota, Colombia) who had 8 digs, 4 kills, and 2 blocks. 3rd year, Courtney Simpkins (Palm Bay, FL) had 7 assists with 7 digs, and 1 kill. While both 4th year players Alexis Reid (Clinton, NC) and Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) held their own, Reid hit for a .600 average and Matts had 8 digs, 1 service ace, and 1 kill. The team struggled hitting a .050% for the night but look to improve before their next PSUAC match-up.
The team is currently sitting with a record of 1-8 on the season and a record of 0-2 in conference play. The teams next game is on Saturday, September 21st at 2pm when they return back to the Beaver Fieldhouse to take on Penn State Fayette!
