Monaca, PA - The Volleyball Team was back on the court today for their first Tri-Match of the season. In game one, Beaver faced Penn State DuBois for their second conference game of the season. In game two, they took on La Roche College.
Game one was a sweep for Beaver. Beaver had a rocky start in the first set, but overall came out with a 25-19 win. In the second set Beaver dominated DuBois with a quick 25-6 win. Beaver did the same in the third set, defeating DuBois 25-9, finishing game one with a sweep.
First year Sofia Perez (Bogota, Columbia) came out on top finishing with 6 kills, 1 assist, 6 aces, and 13 digs. First year Zoie Reid (Salem, OH) was also a key player in Beaver's win finishing with 12 kills, 2 aces, 11 digs, and 1 block. Second year Daniela Guzman (Plainview, TX) finished with 6 kills, 3 aces, and 7 digs. Second year Courtney Simpkins (Palm Bay, FL) finished with 2 kills, 28 assists, 1 aces, and 6 digs.Third year Laine French (Beaver, PA) finished with 4 assists, 4 aces, and 11 digs.
In game two, La Roche proved to be a tough opponent for Beaver. The first set was very close, both teams traded off getting points, but in the end La Roche was victorious with a 25-23 win over Beaver. The second set was much more difficult for Beaver. La Roche took the second set with ease defeating Beaver 25-15. The last set began strong for Beaver, but ultimately La Roche took the win 25-20, sweeping Beaver ending their first Tri-Match in a split.
Reid came out on top in this game finishing with 3 kills, 1 assist, 6 digs, and 3 solo blocks. Perez finished with 7 kills, 1 assist, 1 ace, and 10 digs. French finished this game with 1 kill, 6 assists, 2 aces, and 21 digs.
