Monaca, PA - Today Penn State Beaver took on Penn State Greater Allegheny. Greater Alleghney walked away with a 3-0 win today. Beaver fought hard in the first set but could not overcome losing 24-13. In the second set, Beaver came out stronger but could not prevail losing 25-19. Beaver stepped up in the third set keeping a strong lead, but in the end Greater Allegheny took the win 25-20.
Freshman Courtney Simpkins (Columbia, MD) played a great game today having 16 digs and 19 set assists. Some other defense player highlights include Sophmore Kiana Stamper 9Grand rapids, MI) had 9 digs, senior Clarissa Cook (Woodstock, VA) and freshman Melanie Chuu (Queens, NY) each had 7 digs, and sophmore Maria Matts had 4 digs. Freshman Daniela Guzman (Planview, TX) led the way on offense having 11 kills on 30 attempts. Senior Ramiya White (Westland, MI) also helped lead Beaver on offense with 9 kills on 23 attempts.
