Lady Lions Comeback Falls Short, Loses to DuBois in 5
Lady Lions comeback falls short, loses to DuBois in 5 sets.
Monaca, PA- The Coach Sean Cleary era has taken longer than expected to get off the ground. Hired after the fall 2019 campaign, a season in which saw the Lady Lions make it to both the PSUAC championship and the USCAA tournament, coach had to wait like the rest of the world did to make his debut. After a lost season in 2020 (the PSUAC did not compete in Fall in winter sports), Coach Cleary has spent what seems an eternity to get his program ready. After two strong recruiting classes to add to his senior depth, the Ladies were ready for their first challenge.
Unfortunately, so was DuBois. Dubois started the first set strong, building a 7-0 lead early. Beaver would match DuBois the rest of the way, but coould not overcome the early deficiet, falling 25-18. The second set was much like the first, and Beaver was down 2-0 after dropping set #2 25-17. Sets 3 & 4 Beaver came alive. Commanding most of the set. Winning sets 3 & 4 by the score of 25-22. Set 5 was just as exciting. Beaver started hot, taking a 5-1 lead. Just as they did all night, DuBois would not quit, pushing it to 8-8, and then finally taking the set 15-12.
More Statistical info to come.
With the loss, Beaver sits at 0-1 on the early season. Beaver returns to action tomorrow for day 2 of the PSU Beaver/USCAA Tip Off. They will play at 10, 12, and 2PM. They will take on Fayette, Bay Path, and play a JV game with Greater Allegheny. All games will be streamed on the Rise and Roar network.
