Beaver Picks Up First Win of the Season
Beaver - 3, Greater Allegheny - 1
In day two of action at the USCAA Tip-off tournament hosted at Beaver, the Lady Lions picked up their first win of the season in a non-conference game against rival, Penn State Greater Allegheny.
In the first set, Beaver came out slow footed, but quickly warmed up and won 25-16. Keeping their momentum in the second set they won easily 25-12 as the hitters came to life. The third set Greater Allegheny battled and kept the game close and hung on to steal the set from Beaver 25-22, but Beaver answered in the fourth set, playing quickly and establishing their offense. Led by Amanda Mike and Imani Hargrove the Lady Lions won the set 25-13 and the match 3-1.
Leading the Beaver offense was Amanda Mike with 10 kills, followed by Imani Hargrove with 9. They were also tough as a team from the service line as 5 of the 6 servers had at least 2 aces, led by Ryanne "Roxy" Kie with 4 on the day.
The Lady Lions are now 1-2 overall and will return to action next week against Kent State Tuscarawas on Sunday, September 10th.
