Monaca, PA -- Penn State Beaver volleyball played two games Saturday afternoon; the first against New Kensington in a conference match, and the second against Alfred State. Beaver has been very inconsistent as of late and they look to play two matches without seeming to waver from the good play that has gotten them their wins throughout this season.
The first match was dominated by Beaver, as New Kensington didn't seemed prepared at all for Beaver's attack. Seemingly scoring at will, Beaver made short work of New Kensington in only 3 sets, coming up with a good conference win. Both Brooke Tomasko, with 7 kills and 3 aces, and Jenna Petrucci, with 6 kills and 2 aces, played extremely well in this match helping to lead their team to an easy victory.
The second match was a much different story, as Beaver took on a very tough opponent in Alfred State. Unlike their first match of the day Beaver was not in control at any point against Alfred State. Beaver managed to put up a decent fight, but in the end Alfred State came away with a 3 sets to none win over Penn State Beaver. Even in their loss, Beaver's Jenna Petrucci, with 6 kills and 3 aces, and Amanda Mike, 4 kills and 2 blocks, fought hard to try to keep their team in it.
After today the Beaver women sit at 6-6 overall, with a 2-0 in conference record. Beaver will look to get back on track as they play next on Tuesday, September 20 against Penn State Fayette. This game will be at home and the start time is scheduled for 7 pm.
