Beaver win 1st round of PSUAC playoffs 3-0 against PSU New Kensington
Beaver defeat New Kensington 3-0
Monaca, PA - The Lady Lions of Beaver hosted the Lions of Penn State New Kensington Wednesday night in the 1st round of the PSUAC Playoffs.
Beaver took the court Wednesday, kicking off their PSUAC Playoff journey, Beaver earned a big win in the first round against New Kensington. Each set Beaver played whole heartedly and the results showed, set 1 Beaver won 25-11. They were consistent with set 2 winning 25-10. Then finishing New Kensington off in the final set, 25-14.
Overall, the team did very well. Collectively, the team had 29 kills and 38 digs. Leading in kills was freshman Morgan Cannister (Aliquippa, PA/ Hopewell) with 10, behind her is sophomore, Ryanne "Roxy" Kie (Laguna, NM/ Laguna Acoma) with 8. On the defensive side, leading ahead with 9 digs was Cannister. Senior Miranda Pfeiffer (Freedom, PA/ Freedom) and freshman Brenda Martiz (El Centro, CA/ Southwest) had a combined total of 14 digs on the night. Beaver will take what they need from this night and apply it to practice from now until Saturday to be prepared to take on Brandywine.
Beaver continue on, looking forward to Saturday, October 24, where they will take on Penn State Brandywine in the PSUAC semifinals. Beaver will play at Rec Hall in State College at 1 p.m.
