Media, PA - Beaver finish out the season 1-1, taking on the lions of Schuylkill and Brandywine this afternoon.
Beaver kicked their day off with an exciting win in their first game against Penn State Schuylkill. Beaver dominated Schuylkill set by set, determined to end their season on a high note. Set 1 went to Beaver easily, scoring 25 points on Schuylkill. They kept the wins going in the second set, winning 25-15. Then finishing Schuylkill off in the third set, 25-10. Beaver hoped to keep the win streak going when they faced their next opponent, Brandywine. Beaver had high spirits starting off into set 1, but they were shy of a few points losing 25-18. Set 2, Brandywine were determined to keep winning, which showed in thier performance when they won, 25-9. In set 3 Brandywine were determined to finish what they started, winning the set 25-16.
Despite the loss, Beaver ended the regular season on a good note balancing it out with a win. They end the season 13-3 in the PSUAC and 17-10 overall. One player coming out of the successful season was sophmore, Jenna Petrucci (New Castle, PA/ Shenango) leading the team with 205 kills on the season. Freshman, Brenda Martinez (El Centro, CA/ Southwest) had a lot to be proud of this season, rounding up with a overall total of 495 assists. Along with sophomore, Julianna Kon (Hopewell, PA/ Hopewell) with an overall total of 209 digs on the season. Beaver hopes to continue to be successful when they take their focus on to playoffs.
The Lady Lions return Wednesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. at home for their first game of playoffs which will be a blue out. Opponent is TBA.
