Lady Lions fall to PSU Mont Alto

York, PA - The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver traveled to York to take on the Lions of Penn State Mont Alto and lost 3-1.

Beaver returned to the court Saturday afternoon to take on Penn State Mont Alto. In each set Beaver battled their way through only to come up short of defeating Mont Alto. The first set was so close but Beaver were unable to pull through, only losing by a short 5 points, 25-20. Rallying across the table with kills was sophomore Jenna Petrucci (New Castle, PA/ Shenango) with 13 kills and Morgan Cannister (Aliquippa, PA/ Hopewell) with 10 kills. Beaver answered back in the second set, winning 25-21, giving hope to win in the next two sets.  

Beaver had excellent stats on the day with defense on fire with an overall 107 digs, with sophomore Julianna Kon (Hopewell, PA/ Hopewell) leading with 27 on the night. Even though Beaver showed an excellent performance, set 3 wasn't in their favor when they were defeated 25 -9. Set 4, Beaver worked hard to gain another win and make a comeback from set 3, but they couldn't retaliate in time, losing in extra points 26-24.

Despite the loss, Beaver's season is soon coming to an end, with them 12-2 in the PSUAC and only 16-9 overall they have that playoff spot checked off. Their next and last games of the season are Sunday, October 18, at 2 p.m. where they will take on Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Brandywine at Penn State Brandywine.
