Lady Lions fall to Penn State Fayette in 3-0 set
Beaver lose 3-0 to Penn State Fayette
Lemont Furnace, PA - The Lady Lions of the Penn State Beaver Women's volleyball team traveled to face the ladies at Penn State Fayette on Wednesday night.
Beaver had just come short in each set to Fayette, losing 3 sets to 0 overall.
The first set was a rough start for both teams but each pulled through earning each point handed to them. Sadly, it wasn't enough for Beaver with Fayette taking the first set 25-15. The second set had everyone on their feet with each team battling it out for every point earned and given to each other. Beaver held on but it still didn't make the cut only losing by 2 points keeping the score at 25-23 to Fayette. As set 3 began, Beaver were one up on Fayette. They had fought all the way to the end but couldn't pull through in time to be saved. Fayette were victorious in all three taking the win tonight.
Despite not being triumphant, the team did very well throughout the game. Sophomore Jenna Petrucci (New Castle, PA/ Shenango) came out leading with 9 kills on the night. Following her was freshman Morgan Cannister (Aliquippa, PA/ Hopewell) with 7 kills, then sophomore Ryanne "Roxy" Kie (Laguna, NM/ Laguna Acoma) with 5 kills. Freshman Brenda Martinez (El Centro, CA/ Southwest) helped her teammates with 19 assists on the night. Cannister also had 19 digs in the game as well.
Beaver's next at play is Saturday, October 3, where they will play at Penn State Greater Allegheny back to back games, first against Penn State Lehigh Valley, second against Penn State Hazelton. Games times are 2 and 4 p.m.
