Lady Lions Volleyball drops two games in Day two of Penn State Beaver/USCAA Tournament
Beaver fell to Maine Fort Kent 3-0 and Carlow College 3-1 on Day two of the Penn State Beaver/USCAA Tournament.

Monaca, PA- Though the results were not what the Lady Lions wanted in Day two of the Penn State Beaver/USCAA tournament, howerver, the team made huge strides in playing together.
In game one, Beaver fell to Maine Fort Kent by the scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-17. In all three sets, Maine went on early runs, and then played even the rest of the set.
Leading Beaver was freshman standout, Morgan Cannister (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) with 10 kills and 19 digs. And from the service line, senior, Miranda Pfeiffer (Freedom, PA/Freedom) added 3 aces to her season total.
In game two, Beaver shocked Carlow in the first set, taking the set 25-15. After the first set it was all Carlow, taking sets 2 through 4 by the scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-9.
Even though Beaver wore down at the end, the team really is showing signs of improvement. Again, the Lady Lions were led by Cannister who added 10 kills in just under 30 attacks.
For her efforts, Freshman Morgan Canister (Hopewell/Aliquippa, PA) was named to the All-Tournament team. The remainder of the All-Tournament team were: Carly Bonk (Carlow), Brianna Krystek (UMFK), Courtney Haines (PSU Fayette), Melissa Costa (RMU Springfield) and Shannon Murdock of Rochester College was named tournament MVP. Rochest College won this year's tournament.
The Lady Lions will return to action on Friday, September 4th, when the host the PSUAC/WPCC Challenge. Penn State New Kensington and Fayette, with Beaver, will be taking on Butler CCC, Westmoreland CCC, and Penn Highlands, all from the WPCC, the former conference Beaver belonged to before joining the PSUAC.
The tournament will kick off on Friday at 4 p.m.
