Volleyball loses to Penn State Mont Alto
Beaver loses 3-1
Monaca, PA- Penn State Beaver women's volleyball loses to Penn State Mont Alto after a great effort by Beaver.
Beaver played a very strong throughout the match but Mont Alto was able to capitalize more often resulting in points, not without a fight from Beaver. In the first set Beaver kept the score close and were able to play more consistently than their last few matches. Beaver was able to put 17 points on the board but Mont Alto was able to score the 25 sooner ending the first set.
In the second set Beaver continued their effort but it wasn't enough to beat out Mont Alto. Even though Beaver lost the set, they were able to keep up with Mont Alto's score by playing as not only a team but playing as a unit able to adjust to anything Mont Alto hit their way. Although Beaver was able to keep their heads in the game it wasn't enough to pull out a win in the second set.
In the third and final set, Beaver continued to play consistently but were slowly losing their scoring momentum. Even though they weren't able to score as often, they still put 15 points on the board in the set. Beaver had a few players who fought to stay in the match, they were, Kalynn Hill (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour), Kelsey Brooks (Pittsburgh, PA/Carrick), and Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) all with a high number of kills. On the defensive end, Miranda Pfeiffer (Freedom, PA/Freedom) had 11 digs, one of the reasons Beaver was able to stay in the match. The final score was 3-0, Mont Alto.
Beaver's next match up is Sunday, September 28 against Penn State Brandywine at 12 p.m. and then Penn State Schuylkill at 2 p.m.
