Women's Volleyball wins conference opener
Beaver defeats Greater Allegheny 3-0
McKeesport, PA -- Tonight Beaver traveled to Greater Allegheny to play their PSUAC opener.
Beaver, coming off a non-conference win against WCCC, had the momentum in their favor from the very beginning. In the first set, they jumped out to an early lead and never let Greater Allegheny into the game. Beaver served extremely well preventing Greater Allegheny from running their offense effectively. With 8 kills in the first set, Beaver won easily by a score of 25-9.
The second set of the match was almost identical as Beaver racked up an additional 8 kills and finished the game by the same score.
The final set of the match Beaver kept the heat on Greater Allegheny with their serving which was led by freshman, Brittany Davids (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) who had 5 total aces on the night. In addtion to aggressive serving, Beaver hit very consistently from the middle and the outside. Leading the offensive attack were junior, middle hitters, Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) and Natalie Gamble (McKees Rocks, PA/Sto-Rox) as well as freshman, outside hitter, Madeline Hill (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) who each had 5 kills on the night.
Beaver continues their conference play on Saturday as they travel to Penn State Dubois for a 12:00pm tri-match which will also feature Alfred State.
