Lady Lions Season Comes To An End
Beaver loses in first round of PSUAC playoffs.
Lehman, PA- The Penn State Beaver Womens Volleyball Team played in the Elite 8 of the PSUAC championships tonight against Penn State Wilkes Barre, losing 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-21).
Beaver came out looking to even the series between the two for the season, but, unfortunately lost the first set 25-15. Jenn Fannin (Harbor Creek/Erie, PA) and Rachel Grubbs (Freeport/Sarver, PA) tried to carry their team through this battle, but it wasn't enough.
In the second, Beaver dropped the set 25-19.
The Lady Lions came out strong in the third with all hopes of forcing the game into a fourth set. However, by a score of 25-21, Beaver dropped the set as well as the match to Wilkes Barre.
For the night, Fannin led the team with 9 kills and Grubbs with 5. Grubbs added 10 assists with Gina Richman (Union/Edinburg, PA) adding 2 of her own. Fannin also contributed 7 digs and Amanda Palombo (Quigley/Aliquippa, PA) with 3.
Beaver ends their season 10-7 in the PSUAC and 11-13 in the USCAA.
