Wilkes-Barre Too Much For Beaver
PSUAC rival Penn State Wilkes-Barre defeats Beaver
Lehman, PA- The Womens Volleyball Team of Penn State Beaver (9-10, 8-4 PSUAC) dropped an important game to Penn State Wilkes-Barre (Lehman, PA).
The first set was taken by Wilkes-Barre 25-12, Putting Beaver at a down advantage for the entire match.
In the second set, Beaver tried to come alive with Jenn Fannin (Harbor Creek/Erie, PA), Natalie Gamble (Sto-Rox/McKees Rocks, PA), Rachel Grubbs (Freeport/Sarver, PA), and Ella Epps (Penn Hills/Pittsburgh, PA) trying to take over. Unfortunately, Beaver dropped the second set as well 25-15.
The third set seemed to be the Lady Lions biggest set trying to stay with the women of Wilkes Barre throughout. Although it was too late, Beaver losing 25-20.
Fannin led the game with 10 kills, followed by Grubbs with 11 assists, and Epps with 4 digs. Gamble, Fannin, Grubbs, and Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) each had 1 block for the afternoon.
Beaver will take on Penn College (Williamsport, PA) Sunday, October 8, 2011 at 11 a.m and Penn State Hazelton (Hazelton, PA) at 12:30 p.m in a quadmatch.
