La Roche Lady Redhawks Defeat Lady Lions, 3-0

Monaca, PA - The Penn State Beaver volleyball team lost in three sets to the Lady Redhawks of La Roche College on Monday, Sept. 27.
The first set was a close 8-7 until La Roche went on a 6-0 run and stayed ahead, eventually taking a 25-12 win.
In the second set, Beaver was much more competitive. With the game tied at 15-15, La Roche scored a few quick points to gain an 18-15 lead. From there, the teams rallied back and forth, and a kill by Myranda Raymond (Brashear High School/Pittsburgh, PA) and an ace by Kayla Helble (Western Beaver High School/Industry, PA) cut Beaver's deficit to 22-21. However, La Roche scored the next three points for a 25-21 win.
In the last set, Beaver and La Roche were tied 4-4 until the Lady Lions went on a 4-0 run, courtesy of two kills by Nikki Donelson (McKeesport High School/McKeesport, PA) and an ace by Raymond.
The game remained close, but La Roche pulled away, 24-20. A kill by Helble and a block by Raymond pulled Beaver within two points, but the Lady Redhawks finished the set, 25-22.
Raymond led Beaver with six digs, Heather Sandusky (New Brighton High School/New Brighton, PA) had eight kills, and Kellie Karasack (Seneca Valley High School/Cranberry Township) had 17 assists.
Beaver is now 7-10 overall. On Wednesday, Sept. 29, the team travels to take on the Chatham University Cougars at 7 p.m.
