Bittersweet Day as Sandusky Plays Last Home Game

Monaca, PA- Senior Heather Sandusky (New Brighton/New Brighton, PA) played her final home game for the Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver. Sandusky, a three time PSUAC All-Conference selection, two time USCAA Honorable Mention All-American, USCAA All-American, and three time PSUAC All-Academic honoree, is easily the most decorated Penn State Beaver student-athlete.
In the match, Sandusky and company had their hands full with conference foe PSU Wilkes-Barre, whom they are jocking for playoff position with. Game one see sawed back and forth, with Wilkes-Barre out lasting Beaver to take the set 25-22. In game 2, Beaver jumped to a 12-4 lead, before a resilent Wilkes-Barre battled back to tie the game at 22, and then to push ahead 25-23. In the final set, Wilkes-Barre led most of the way, before two outstanding kills by Sandusky, and a block by Freshman Myranda Raymond (Brashear/Pittsburgh, PA) pulled Beaver with in one at 24-23, but Wilkes-Barre scored the next point, which gave them the set and match.
With the loss, Beaver fell to 11-15 overall and 10-6 in the PSUAC. Beaver also fell to the #6 seed in the upcoming PSUAC tournament. They will travel to Williamsport, PA to take on #3 seed Penn College.
