Beaver Defeated in First Match of La Roche Tournament

Pittsburgh, PA - On Friday, Sept. 4 the Franciscan University Lady Barons (Steubenville, OH) defeated the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions volleyball team, 25-15, 25-17, 25-19, in day one of the La Roche College Tournament in Pittsburgh. This marked the second time in four days that Beaver went up against Franciscan. In the previous game held Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Franciscan, Beaver lost, 25-8, 25-16, and 25-14. 

Junior Heather Sandusky (New Brighton High School, New Brighton, PA) led the team with 10 kills, senior Jen Hain (Northgate High School, Pittsburgh PA) had 15 assists, and sophomore Liz Hain (Northgate High School, Pittsburgh, PA) added 3 digs.

Now 0-0 in the PSUAC and 1-4 overall, the Beaver Lady Lions will continue play today at 6 p.m. when they take on the Marietta College Pioneers (Marietta, OH) in the La Roche College Tournament.
