Monaca, PA – Penn State Beaver Women's Soccer hosted Penn State Hazleton in their last match of the season. Before the game Beaver recognized their fourth-year players to show their appreciation for all their hard work during their college soccer career.
When the match kicked off Beaver was able to sustain pressure on Hazleton's defense. They were able to keep possession of the ball in Hazleton's half of the field for the first 10 minutes of the game. This offensive pressure resulted in attacking opportunities for a few Beaver players, but Hazleton's goalie was able to come up with several big saves to keep the score tied at zero. After one of Beaver's scoring opportunities Hazleton was able to counterattack quickly and caught Beaver's defense off guard. The result of this attack was a goal for Hazleton and the first one of the match. Hazleton's goal gave them some significant momentum and allowed them to score three more goals before halftime. When the teams came out for the second half Hazleton was able to strike early and get their 5th goal of the game three minutes in. The game slowed down for the next twenty minutes with neither team scoring a goal until Hazleton got another one in the 66th minute. After this goal Hazleton kept the pressure on and scored three more goals before the end of the match for a final score of 9-0.
