Monaca, PA - Women's Soccer was back on the field today, at home, against Thield College Tomcats. Heading into this game, Beaver is on a two game losing streak, looking to turn things around. However, the Tomcats proved to be a tough opponent for the lions.
In the first half of the game of the game, the Tomcats scored early on in the first half of the game. This would spark momentum for them and they went on to score four more goals in the half. Halftime would start with the Tomcats in a 5-0 lead over the Lions.
In the second half of the game, the Lions played great defense holding off the Tomcats from scoring. The Tomcats would not score again until 67:37. The Lions continued to play hard throughout the rest of the second half, but it would not be enough. The Tomcats were able to score one last goal at 73:18, and close the game with a 7-0 win over the Lions.
First year Kierstyn Mays () played in the goal for the entire 90 minutes for the Lions, finishing with 18 saves out of 25 shots on goal, allowing 7 goals to the Tomcats. Third year Allison VanKirk (Pittsburgh, PA), first year Cadence Nichols (Washington Courthouse, OH), and fourth year Bailey Brown (Lexington, SC) each took one shot on goal.
