MEDIA, Pa.—The Penn State Beaver women's soccer team has been knocked out of playoff contention after falling to Penn State Brandywine in Saturday afternoon's PSUAC match.
Brandywine scored early in the first with a goal at the fifth minute (1-0). The teams then went scoreless in the remaining minutes of the first period, with the Lady Lions down 1-0 at halftime.
In the second, Brandywine netted another early goal against Beaver at the 47th minute to put Beaver in a 2-0 deficit. Things didn't get any better for the Lady Lions in the remaining minutes of the second, as they allowed a third goal by Brandywine at the 56th minute and a fourth goal at the 79th minute to take a 4-0 loss for the day.
Freshman Veronica Andujar (Weston/American Heritage Boca/Delray) finished with one shot and one on goal while sophomore Stephanie Sosa-Bravo (New York/Grand St. Campus) finished with one shot for the day.
At the net, freshman Megan Bartley (Austintown/Austintown Fitch) goaltended for 90 minutes, allowed four goals and had 14 save against the 18 SOG he faced.
Beaver falls to a 3-6 overall record and 2-4 in the PSUAC rankings.
The Lady Lions will travel to Thiel College in for their last road match of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The match is slated for 4 p.m.
