Cresson, Pa. -- The Lady Lions lose 0-6 on the road against Mount Aloysius.
The Penn State Beaver women's soccer team were on the road Thursday night, where the team faced off against Mount Aloysius. The Lady Lions had a great performance against the ladies of Penn State Mont Alto, beating the team 4-1 in the last home game of the season. After Tuesday's win, Beaver sits at a 4-4 overall in the regular season and 2-2 in the PSUAC standings, keeping the team in third place.
In the earlier half of the first period, Beaver's starting line played strong against Mount Aloysius but had trouble connecting at the net. Mount Aloysius, who sits in first place in its division, showed Beaver why the team has had such success this year and played the Lady Lions tough in midfield, maintaining possession for most of the latter half of the first. As the first half ended, Beaver remained scoreless.
The women tried to spark an offense going into the second period, but Mount Aloysius had a clear advantage and outplayed them again on both sides of the field. Beaver didn't give up and tried to score in the last minutes despite being in a 0-6 hole. Despite creating several good scoring opportunities, the ladies missed their chance to get on the board and lost the game 0-6.
Despite the loss, Brittany Zahn had an impressive performance at goalie and racked up 23 saves at the end of the game.
The ladies will have another important game when they head to Penn State Lehigh Valley next Thursday, Oct. 18, where they will play in the first of two back-to-back conference matches of the week. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
