New Brighton, PA -- Beaver drops first PSUAC game to Penn State Brandywine, 6-1.
Hosting Brandywine, the defending PSUAC champions, the Lady Lions knew they had a tough task ahead. After giving up two goals just five minutes apart (14:23, 20:28) Beaver's defense held Brandywine at bay for the remainder of the first half.
In the second half, Beaver gave up a third goal to Brandywine just 6 minutes in, but quickly answered with a goal of their own from sophomore, Lauren Banks, her second goal of the season. With the score at 3-1, the Lady Lions of Beaver down two, they played solid defense until the final 15 minutes of the game when they gave up three late goals to Brandywine to fall by a final score of 6-1.
Junior Brittany Zahn made 20 saves in goal to lead the defensive charge for the Lady Lions. They will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Penn State Hazleton for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
