Rochester, Pa -- The Penn State Beaver women's soccer team took on Westmoreland County Community College on Thursday in what would be their second matchup of the season. Beaver was able to go on the road and dominate Westmoreland CCC last time so they look to have the same sort of success in this one.
The game started off fast, as Beaver was able to score three goals within the first 10 minutes of the game, two of them off of the foot of Jessica Spina. The rest of the first half was controlled by Beaver as they stayed on a consistent attack, rarely allowing Westmoreland County across midfield. The first half ended with Beaver leading 3-0 going into half with seemingly all the momentum in the game.
The second half was more of the same for Beaver as they were able to score three more times in this half. However, they did start to slip up a little early in the half and Westmoreland County was able to score on a Beaver team that seemed to be on cruise control. After that Beaver really stepped their game up again and didn't stop playing hard until the last whistle. The Beaver women went home with a 6-1 win when this one was all said and done.
Beaver took home another good win against Westmoreland County Community College as they now sit with a 3-7 overall and a 1-3 in conference record. Beaver played very well in this game as they were lead by Senior Jessica Spina, who had three goals in the winning effort. The girls will return to action on Saturday, October 8 at Penn State Brandywine. Game time is set for 1 pm.
