Schuylkill, PA -- The Penn State Beaver women's soccer team traveled to Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday for their conference opener. The women are still on the hunt for their first win this season as they dropped their first two games this season. They come into this one looking to improve their record and take home their first win of the season.
Beaver started the game out looking as good as they have all year, keeping the game close for the first 25 minutes. Finally, in the 28th minute, Schuylkill scored the games first goal as Beaver started to look worn down. It didn't take long for Schuylkill to score again, and in both the 36th and 39th minutes Schuylkill buried two more shots, putting Beaver down 3-0.
Beaver seemed to get a second wind as they started the second half of play, as they played just as well as they did in the first 25 minutes of the game. But once again, Schuylkill ended up sinking another shot, putting them up 4-0. This lead would last until the end of the game as Beaver ended up losing their conference opener 4-0.
The Beaver women are still looking for their first win of the season, and although it is still early they look like they will really need to turn it around to get back into winning form. Beaver's goalie, Brittany Zahn, played well in this game as she tallied 8 saves on 12 shots. The Beaver girls now sit at 0-3 on the season, with an 0-1 conference record, and will return to action on Sunday, September 11 at Penn State Mont Alto at 12 pm.
