Unionville, PA -- The Penn State Beaver girl's soccer team kicked off their season at home on Thursday against opponent Washington Adventist. Beaver comes into this season as the defending PSUAC champs so the expectations are very high for them to start the year.
The game started off bad for Beaver, as it was just five minutes into the first half when they let up their first goal. The girls fought to get back into it but every time they looked like they were about to get something going, Adventist would shut them down and take over the game eventually scoring five goals in the first half while Beaver was still left scoreless.
As the second half started, Beaver still looked out of sorts against a dominant Adventist team as their struggles continued offensively. Adventist was looking to put the game to rest from the start of the half and they ended up scoring five more goals before it was all said and done. Although Beaver struggled to get it going offensively they did show signs of life throughout the half but never managed to capitalize on any chances they managed to get, as they lost this game by a score of 10-0.
Beaver starts this season off with a disappointing loss as they look like they'll need to improve if they want to compete in conference play this year. With a lot of new additions to the roster it may take some time for the girls to get back into the swing of things and hopefully back into their winning ways of last season. The girl's next game will be on Wednesday, September 7 at Geneva College at 7 pm.
