Scranton, PA- Wrestling gets off to a slow start in its first tournament of the season at the University of Scranton for the Electric City Duals.

In their next match Beaver squared off against conference rival Dubois. Again Beaver had one wrestler, Sean Newkirk (McDonough, PA/Henry County) who took his match the full time, but lost by a 10-4 decision.
Apprentice School was Beaver's third oponent in the tournament. For the first time in the dual, Beaver put points on the board scoring 3 as Newkirk won the 133 weight class.
Finally, Beaver faced host Scranton and again Beaver fell, but it was Newkirk putting points on the board scoring 6 and winning by a pin at 2:42. The match finished by a final score of 50-6.
Despite the rough start to the young season, Coach Winkle is optimistic about his team this season as they look to improve on their record next weekend when they travel to Penn State New Kensington to compete in the New Kensington Open on Saturday, November 16th.
