Lady Lions take down Penn State York in Weekend of PSUAC play
The Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball team takes down Penn State York in 87-62 victory.
Monaca, PA - A weekend full of PSUAC play turns out to be very benefical for Penn State Beaver. Securing a win against Penn State York with a score of 87-62, the Lady Lions had a successful PSUAC weekend winning both of their games. Within the first two quarters of the game both Beaver and York had their share of leads in the game. First-year, Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA) scored the first two points for Beaver off of a jump shot only 30 seconds into the game. This was quickly followed up by another jump shot shot scored by Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA). First-year, Cashimere Ralph (Pittsburgh, PA) scored off a free-throw getting Beaver to their 12 points in the first quarter. Beaver scored first in the 2nd quarter with 2 free throws made by by Second-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX). Beaver went down by 8 points in the 2nd quarter cutting that down to only 2 going into the half. Though Beaver was down by 2 at the half they very much made up for it in the second half winning by 25 points. Early in the 3rd quarter, Beaver tied it up with 2 points being scored by Tesch through 2 free throws. First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored off a layup giving Beaver their first lead of the second half which would also be the final change of lead for the game. In the 4th quarter, First-year, Bailey Rieg (Pittsburgh, PA) scored off a lay-up to put Beaver up by 7. Second-year, Olympia Leckey (West Valley, NY) scored the final point for Beaver off a free throw with 42 seconds left in the game.
First-year, Bailey Rieg (Pittsburgh, PA) led the team in points this game even while coming off the bench; Rieg had 22 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored 15 points, had an impressive 8 rebounds, had 2 assists, and 6 steals. Second-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) scored 16 points this game along with having 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals. Second-Year player Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) had 12 ppoints along with 2 rebounds and 1 steal. The team had 26 rebounds, 18 assists, and 19 steals. The team went 15-29 from the free-throw line which was 51.7% and shot 31-70 from the field for a 44.3% success rate.
Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball is now 4-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play this season. The Women's Basketball team will travel to take on their next competitor on Monday, November 25th where they will tip-off against Pitt Greensburg at 1pm.
