Division II IUP hands Lady Lions a Loss in Tough Road Trip Match
Indiana University of Pennsylvania gave the Lady Lions a tough match-up finishing 86-30.
Indiana, PA - After a split weekend at the Beaver Fieldhouse, the Lady Lions hit the road today for their first away game of the season. The team traveled to Indiana, PA to take on NCAA Division II competitor, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in their first away game of the season during their annual Education day where the team brings out students from local schools to come support. Beaver had a rough start for the day scoring only 5 points in the first quarter compared to the Crimson Hawks 30 points. First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored first with a 3-point shot in the first quarter 6 and a 1/2 minutes in to the game. First-year, Morghan Prevost (Houston, TX) score the teams other 2 points in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Enderle score off a free-throw with just over 3 minutes left in the quarter. Second-year Emery Black (New Braunsfels, TX) scored the next two, while fellow Second-year player, Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) scored off a 3-point shot to close out the half. To begin the second half of play, Beaver came out a scored much quicker than the first 2 quarters. Scoring in the first 3 minutes, Enderle made her second 3 point shot of the day. Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) tried to help her team scoring the next 5 points off a 3 point shot and a layup bringing their score to 19. Siegfried also left her mark on the third quarter scoring with 2, 3 point shots bringing Beaver up to 25 after 3 quarters of play. Beaver would not score their final 5 points of the game until the final 2 minutes in the fourth quarter. Black made a a layup and First-year, Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA) would finish out the game for Beaver with a 3 point shot. With a final score of 86-30 landing in favor of the Crimson Hawks, Beaver looks to take this game and improve on their play for when PSUAC conference play begins.
Second-year, Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) had 9 points this game with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored 7 points as well, along with 4 rebounds, with 1 assist and 1 steal. Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 5 points, had 6 rebounds which led the team, and 1 assist. Beaver made 11 of their shots from the field, 7 shots fro 3 point range, and 1 free-throw today against IUP. The team had a collective 32 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.
Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball is now 2-3 overall this season playing their toughest opponent so far this season. The Lady Lions will begin PSUAC play on Friday, November 22nd at 6pm when they take on Penn State Mont Alto. The team has 3 more games until they break for their first holiday of the season.
