Beaver Bested by Miami Hamilton in Day 2 of the Tip-Off Tournament
Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball was bested by Miami Hamilton with a score of 89-66
Monaca, PA - Today the Lady Lions took on Miami Hamilton in a tough USCAA Match-up in Day 2 of the Tip-Off Tournament. Starting strong, Beaver scored first within 20 seconds of the game starting. First-year, Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA) scored first for Beaver with a layup and Second-year, Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) followed that up with a three-point shot and a layup, making the game 7-0. Beaver continued their lead until the 3 minute mark of the 1st Quarter where they started going back and forth with Miami Hamilton. Miami Hamilton took the lead with a little under 2 an a half minutes left. Starting the 2nd Quarter, Beaver went scoreless for 3 minutes, while Miami Hamilton took a 10 point lead. Tesch was able to bring the game back within 5 witha layup before Miami Hamilton went for a point scoring run again. Second-year, Taylor Woodruff scored the final points of the first half with a layup before going into halftime with a score of 45-35 in favor of Miami Hamilton. First-year Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored the first point for the Lions in the second half with a layup. Miami Hamilton their lead for the entire 2nd half going up by 20 with a little over 3 and half minutes left in the 4th quarter. Fourth-year, Alexis Reid (Eastern Shore, VA) scored the final point of the game with her made free throw with under a minute left in the game. The final score of the game finished in favor of Miami Hamilton with a score of 89-66.
Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) scored an impressive 18 points this game along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Second-year Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) scored 16 points, had 2 rebounds, and 3 steals. While First-year Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA) played tough with 12 points, had 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Both Second-Year player Emery Black (New Braunsfels, TX) and First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored 8 points and 7 points respectively. Beaver was 12-19 from the free throw line which was 63.2% and shot 41.4% from the field.
Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball is now 1-1 overall to begin the season. Beaver will face three more non-conference opponents before they take on their first set of PSUAC competitors. Come out to the Beaver Fieldhouse on Friday, November 15th at 6:00pm to support the Women's Basketball team in their next game against Penn State Altoona.
