Beaver loses first game at Nationals

Petersburg, VA - The Lady Lions take on Christendom in a head-to-head quarterfinal matchup at State College, PA. The Lady Lions fought hard in a tough game today. The Lady Lions unfortunately lost today's game at Nationals.

To start the game, Second Year, Daniela Guzman (Plainview, TX) hit a catch and shot a three-pointer which was assisted by Second year, Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) to put the first points on the board. A few plays later, first-year guard, Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) assisted. The second year, Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) with a nice pull-up jumper. After a small scoring drought, Beaver got back on the board with an aggressive drive to the basket by First-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) she got fouled and made both free throws. First-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) got her spot and a mid-range jumper. After the first quarter, the score was 22-10 Christendom. 

To start the second quarter, first-year, Taylor Woodruff came in the game and made a tough layup in the lane. Second year, Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) made it to the rim got fouled, and finished 1 for 1 at the line. Fourth year, Katie Miller,   made a layup which was assisted by First-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX). At the end of the second quarter, the score was Beaver 19 - Christendom 37. 

To start the second half, Second year, Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) made a three-pointer which was assisted by first-year guard, Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA). Four year, Caitlyn O'Hara, Norco, CA. made a layup to get Beaver rolling in the second half. First-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) made a tough mid-range shot once again. Going into the fourth quarter, Beaver was down 57-31 but they were giving it their all to come back. To start the fourth quarter, the Second year, Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) made a layup. First-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) made a jump shot late in the fourth quarter. 

Second year, Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) won player of the game today as she finished the game with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Emery Black finished the game with 11 points and 6 rebounds. 

Beaver lost their first game in Nationslas 71-38, but their season is not over. Please watch the Lady Lion's next game on Tuesday, March 12th as they go on to play against Southern Maine CC at 1:30pm!!
