Rough Start to the Season for the Lions

Bethany, WV - The Lions were back on the road for more non-conference play taking on Bethany College. The Lions have faced tough teams to start of their season, and in each one have fallen just short. This game started off great for the lions, but by the end they were traveling home with another loss. 

The game began strong, with both teams getting good buckets. Beaver remained down by just two or three points for the entire quarter, and by the end of the ten minutes, the score was 21-17 in Bethany's favor. The second quarter proved tough for both teams, with Beaver putting up only 7 points and Bethany putting up 11. To end the half, Bethany remained in the lead 32-24. 

Beaver was off to a rough start after the half being down by 10 points almost half way through the beginning of the second half. However, they made a strong comeback towards the end, and Bethany was in the lead by just 4 points to end the third quarter.

Beaver had a rough start in the last quarter when Bethany ran up a nine point lead. For over a minute, neither team was able to get any points, until a foul put Bethany at the free throw line. With Bethany making one out of two, Beaver was down by 10 with just over five minutes remaining in the half. Beaver remained down by ten until just over a minute remaining in the quarter when A made free throw and a three pointer put them down by just four points. However, Beaver was unable to put up anymore stops on defense, and Bethany took an 8 point lead to end the game. Beaver traveled home with a 68-60 loss to Bethany College. 

Fourth year Kyra Seggewiss (Calgary Alberta, Canada) claimed her second player of the game in a row finishing with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. First year Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) came off the bench once again to finish with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals.
