Beaver Wins First PSUAC Match-Up of the Season
Monaca, PA - Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball was back in action tonight for their first PSUAC match-up of the season against Penn State Greater Allegheny.
Beaver came out ready to begin conference play with a win after ending their previous season as PSUAC Champions. Greater Allegheny came out strong scoring quickly in the first quarter. However, beaver did not back down. The first quarter came to an end at 26-21 with Beaver up by 5. Greater Allegheny battled hard in the second quarter outscoring Beaver 17-16. At the end of the first half Beaver was up 42-38. Beaver came out ready to play in the third quarter outscoring Greater Allegheny 17-15. The fourth quarter was a close match with both teams scoring 22 points. However. Beaver closed out the game with a win beating Greater Allegheny 81-75.
Sophomore Kiera Baker (Houston, TX) led Beaver tonight with a double-double having 21 points and 10 rebounds. Baker also finished the game with 2 assists. Freshman Daniela Guzman (Plainview, TX) also helped lead Beaver tonight having 18 points, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds. Freshman Jada West (San Antonio, TX) was also a key player tonight having 12 points and 7 rebounds.
