Lady Lions Champs Once Again!
The Lady Lions defeated Penn State Schuylkill in the PSUAC Championship by the score of 59-51.
State College, PA- After a two year wait, the women's basketball team defended their 2020 PSUAC Championship by defeating Penn State Schuylkill 59-51.
In a tough battle through all 4-quarters of play the Lady Lions fought their way to another championship. Finishing the first quarter 4 points shy of Schuylkill the Lady Lions had some work to do. Going into the half they cut that margin in half going into the second half with only a 2 point deficit. After the half the Lady Lions outscored their opponents in each quater by 3 and 6 point margins. With in the final mintues of the game the Lady Lions gave it everything they had to push their lead even more, ending 8 points above Schuylkill with a score of 59-51.
Leading the team for Beaver was Senior, Jimya Chambers, who scored 15 points, had 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal. Seniors, Alexis Cross, Emily Keener, and Mikayla Womer all scored 9 points for the Lions in their great team victory. Sophomore, Arbri Gillis scored 10 points for the Lions as well in 26 minutes of play. This was a true team win for Beaver after the long awaited return of basketball.
The next step for the ladies is the USCAA Small College National Basketball Championship Tournament which will be held March 7th-11th in Richmond, VA. The ladies will play on March 7th against Five Towns College in the first round of the tournament.
