Monaca, PA- The Lady Lions returned from break a bit sluggish, and it showed in the first quarter Monday night against Pitt Greensburg.
Greensburg ended the first quarter on a 11-3 run to build a 26-15 lead. Beaver dug in and started to chip away from that point. The lady Lions outscored the Panthers in the second frame 21-17, pulling within seven at half, as Pitt held the lead at 43-36. In the third, Beaver came out the of the half hot; chipping away until the tied the score at 45's with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. Beaver then took their first lead of the night a minute later on a layup by Senior Alexis Cross. Beaver won the quarter 16-14, but Greensburg held the lead after three, 57-52. In the fourth the effort was there, but the Lady Lions may have used to much energy on the come back as they could not overcome the deficit in the fourth, and fell 79-69.
In the loss, Cross led Beaver in scoring with 19. Seniors Jimya Chambers and Emily Keener added 13 a piece. Keener and Chambers each grabbed 7 rebouds.
The Lady Lions drop to 2-4 overall and remain 1-2 in the PSUAC. The Ladies return to action tomorrow night at 6 p.m. when they host conference rival Penn State Shenango. If you can't make the game, be sure to catch all the action live on the Rise and Roar network.
