Beaver Winless Through First Three Games

Monaca, PA -- Lady Lions fall in first game of the USCAA Tip-off Tournament to Washington Adventist.
After falling behind to start the game, the Lady Lions held the Shock in check and were able to tie the game at 5-5 on a Ryanne "Roxy" Kie free throw with 2:56 left in the first quarter. After trailed 8-7 being into the second quarter, Beaver tied the game and took their first lead of the day on a pair of Brittany Jackson free throws. Giving the ladies some momentum, they maintained a two point lead for about half of the second before falling behind again heading into halftime down, 20-13.
In the third quarter the ladies really struggled to put points on the board as Washington Adventist had their best scoring of the night, putting up 19 points to Beaver's eight. But the Lady Lions refused to quit and despite playing from behind, out scored the Shock in the fourth quarter 21-18 led by Jackson who scored 8 of her 16 points in the final ten minutes. This marks her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds on the night. She was followed by Rachael Cummings who had 10 points tonight.
The Lady Lions return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Johnson and Wales (NC) for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off in day two of action from the USCAA Tip-off Tournament.
