Beaver advances to championship game with 84-65 win
The Lady Lions defeat Penn State Brandywine 84-65 in the semi- finals to advance to the PSUAC championship game.

Monaca, PA- Sophomore Brittany Jackson (Turle Creek, PA/Westinghouse) would start Beaver off with a jump shot cutting Brandywine's lead to 4-2 with seven minutes left in the first quarter. Both teams would go back and forth with the lead after a Brandywine three giving them an 11-9 lead. Senior Morgan Kurtz (Washington, PA/Trinity) gave Beaver the lead right back after a three point jump shot making the score 18-15 with thirty seconds left in the first quarter. Brandywine would add a jump shot cutting Beaver's lead to 18-17 at the end of the first quarter.
The game would continue the fast paced play after Brandywine made a three going up 29-25 with seven minutes left. Beaver would go on a 9-2 run after Senior Khalia Adams (Washington, DC/Phelps) layup putting them back up 34-31 with six minutes left in the second quarter. Junior Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/Lincoln) sank a jump shot adding to Beaver's lead 41-37. Brandywine would make a two point shot making the score 41-39 at the end of the second quarter.
Beaver would start the second half on a 4-0 run after a Border's jump shot. Brandywine bounced back though as they would go on an 11-4 run giving them the lead 54-51 with 2:30 left in the third quarter. Jackson would add two free throws reducing Brandywines lead to one going into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter would be all Beaver. Adams would give the lead right back to Beaver after a quick three to start the quarter. Jackson would add five consecutive points making the score 61-56 with eight minutes left in the game. Beaver would really put the game out of reach with a 13-5 run with 22 seconds left giving them a commanding lead with the final score being 84-65.
Adams would lead all scores' with 26 points, followed by Jackson with 20, and Kurtz with 19. Jackson would lead the team with 11 rebounds recording another double-double.
Beaver improves their record to 17-9 overall and 13-1 in conference play. They move onto the championship game to face Penn State Hazleton Tuesday, at University Park-Bryce Jordan Center. Game time will start at 6 p.m.
