Lady Lions clinch Number 1 spot heading into the playoffs with 66-65 win.

Hazleton, PA -- The Lady Lions clinch the number 1 seed headed into the PSUAC playoffs after a tight 66-65 win over Penn State Hazleton.
Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/Lincoln) would get Beaver off to a nice start after a 10 point first quarter from her. Beaver would start off fast on a 7-2 run. Borders would add six straight points tying the score 15-15 with two minutes left in the first quarter. Khalia Adams (Washington, DC/Phelps) would put in a layup putting Beaver up 21-16 at the end of the first quarter.
Mason Depetro (Pittsburgh, PA/Cornell) would make a three pointer giving Beaver a 31-21 lead with five minutes remaining in the second quarter. Adams would add two jumpers to go into halftime with the score 39-36 in favor of Beaver.
Midway through the third quarter Depetro would sink another three pointer giving Beaver a 48-46 lead. Brittany Jackson (Turle Creek, PA/Westinghouse) would make a layup with three minutes to go in the third quarter. Borders would add a jumper putting Beaver up 55-51 going into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter would b action packed as Hazleton would take a 55-57 lead with seven minutes left in the game. Adams though would comeback and make a layup giving Beaver a 59-57 lead. Jackson put in a layup making the score 66-61 with four minutes left. Hazleton would add four points and would take the last shot but missed giving Beaver the win 66-65.
Adams would lead all scorers with 18 points. Borders with 14, Jackson with 13, and Depetro with 10. Jackson would also have 13 rebounds recording a double-double. Beaver ends the season with a 16-9 overall record and 13-1 in the conference. Next its onto the PSUAC playoffs as the women look to repeat a championship.
