Lady Lions sink major win against GA
Beaver win, 81-64.

McKeesport, PA - Lady Lions sink another win against Penn State Greater Allegheny, 81-64.
Beaver took an early lead off of an Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/ Lincoln) jump shot to put Beaver 2-0 up. This sparked a frenzy of points from both sides with the score being
equal on 3 occasions in 3 minutes. Within the next 4 minutes of play, Beaver slipped
behind, with the help of Brittnay Jackson (Turtle Creek, PA/ Westinghouse) and Khalia Adams (Washington, DC/ Phelps) available in scoring positions. Beaver were able to regain the lead ending the first quarter 31-20.
Within 2 minutes into the second quarter, both teams were on fire offensively scoring back to back 3 point shots (36-25). Hot defense kept the game lively during the following few minutes with each team scoreless. Mia Mattes (Bethel Park, PA/ Bethel Park) changed the game by scoring a 3 point shot that sparked a 5 point run for Beaver. The Lady Lions were in full control of the game going into halftime with a 15 point lead (49-34).
Morgan Kurtz (Washington, PA/ Trinity) opened the third quarter expanding onto Beaver's lead by 2 points (51-34). Greater Allegheny answered back with a few points of their own before Borders silenced them by scoring a sequence of free throws adding 4 more points to Beaver's lead (62-46). The Lady Lions finished the quarter on a 14 point run, giving them the top lead of 72-46.
As the game was coming to an end, Greater Allegheny brought themselves back into action at the beginning of the second quarter on a 12 point run. While GA played the catch up game, Beaver were relentless and wanted to finish what they started with Borders and Jackson closing the game out with Beaver taking it all 81-64.
Leading the Lady Lions offensively was Borders with a total of 24 points. Following behind were Adams and Jackson balancing each other out, contributing 15 points each.
Beaver are now 4-7 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The return to action after the holiday season on Monday, January 11th where they take on Westminster at 6 p.m.
