Beaver's Lady Lions Advance to the PSUAC Final Four
Beaver defeated Hazleton for the second time in a week, this time by the score of 88-64, advancing to the PSUAC Final Four
Monaca, PA- In a game delayed over an hour and fifteen minutes due to travel issues, the Lady Lions passed their first test in their title defense run. Playing Hazleton for a second time in a week proved to be no challenge for Beaver, as they breezed to an 88-64 victory on Wednesday night.
Beaver jumped out to a 14-4 lead at the 15 minute mark in the first half, and never looked back. Beaver led at half 39-23 and continued to build the lead in the second half.
In the win, Beaver out rebounded Hazleton 62-35, and shot at a 38% clip from the floor. Sophomore Cassandra Flowers (Westinghouse/Pittsburgh, PA) dominated, recording another double-double, scoring 28 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Sophomore Morgan Kurtz (Trinity/Washington, PA) added 18 and 8. Everyone for Beaver scored at least 2 points.
With the victory, Beaver is 16-10 overall and advances to the PSUAC Final Four. Beaver will travel to #2 seeded Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday, February 22nd. Tip is set for 3PM. During the regular season, Beaver and GA split, both winning on their home court. GA downed Beaver 86-75 back on January 25th. The game will air on the PSU Beaver Ustream Channel. Coverage will begin after the men's game, which is scheduled to start at 1PM at Mont Alto.
