Beaver improves PSUAC record to 4-1
Lady Lions win over Penn College, 88-70
Monaca, PA -- The Lady Lions faced Penn College at home in a PSUAC match-up that would lead to another confernece win for Beaver.
Penn College opened the scoring and would take a small 2 point lead to start the game, but at the 18:37 mark, Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, PA/Westinghouse) would make a jump shot to tie the game at 4. In just 3 minutes, Penn would surge to take an 11-6 lead, but that was answered quickly by a 4-0 Beaver run to come within 1. The first half saw this back and forth play continue as the lead changed hands five more times until Beaver secured the lead just before the half at the 4:20 mark. The score at the half was 45-38, Beaver.
In the second half, Beaver dominiated the court both on offesne and defense and never relinquished their first half lead. The Lady Lions would go on to win by a final score of 88-70.
Leading the way for the Lady Lions were Khalia Adams (Washington, D.C./Phelps) who had 18 points as well as Morgan Kurtz (Washington, PA/Trinity) and Flowers who both had 14 points. Flowers also had 13 rebounds giving her a double-double on the night.
Beaver is scheduled to take the court again Monday, January 27th as they head to rival Greater Allegheny for their second meeting of the season.
