Beaver falls in first home game of 2014
Beaver loses, 69-65
Monaca, PA- The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions fell to Carlow after a very close contest.
In the first half the Lions dominated the court to gain a lead of 10-8 at the 15:12 mark when Khalia Adams (Washington, DC / Phelps) made a jump shot. Beaver would manage to hold that lead even with Carlow attempting to close in on their lead with an 8-0 run. The half would end with Beaver on top, 36-27. Adams led the team in the first half on offense with 13 points and had a total of 5 rebounds. Morgan Kurtz (Washington, PA / Trinity) and Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, PA / Westinghouse) also had with 8 points each in the half.
The second half proved to be a turning point for the game with Beaver holding the lead up until the 9:07 mark when Carlow fought their way to their first lead. Both teams went neck in neck the remainder of the half, with Beaver closing in on Carlow's lead but never surpassing them again. Beaver lost by just 4 points, 65-69. Adams and Kurtz both led the second with 7 points each.
Beaver's next game is against Penn State Du Bois on Saturday January 14th at 1:00 p.m. as they look to maintain a winning conference record.
