Beaver starts 2013 with win
Lady Lions beat Ohio Eastern 74-66
Monaca, PA--- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver knocked off Ohio Universtiy Eastern on Saturday, winning by a score of 74-66. The first half was back and forth as both teams traded leads. Beaver jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led by as much as 7 in the first half but Ohio Eastern battled back and eventually took a 1 point lead at halftime. Beaver scored the opening bucket of the second half and would not trail again in the contest. Beaver led by as many as 16 as they pulled away from the Panthers and eventually won the contest by 8. Beaver's biggest advantage was on the boards as they outrebounded the Panthers 47-22.
Beaver got a strong performance from freshman Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, Westinghouse) who finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead Beaver in the victory. Katie Dennis (Hookstown, South Side) scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool, East Liverpool) finished with 11 points and dished out 4 assists and Morgan Kurtz (Washington, Trinity) added 10 points to give the Lady Lions four players in double figures. Jocelyn Warfield (Monaca, Central Valley) added 10 rebounds for Beaver in the win.
Beaver is now 10-3 overall and 6-1 in the PSUAC and will play again on Friday when they travel to PSU Hazelton to play at 6pm.
