Scranton, PA---- Penn State Beaver traveled to PSU Scranton on Friday evening for their first PSUAC matchup of the season and came away with the victory 97-90 in overtime. Beaver trailed by 2 at halftime and after tieing the game up in regualtion, the Lady Lions prevailed by 7 to open up conference play 1-0. Beaver shot 44% from the field compared to Scranton's 36% and Beaver outrebounded Scranton 64-43.
Beaver was led offensively by Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, Westinghouse) and Amanda Temple (Avella, Avella) who both finished with 16 points for the Lady Lions. Brooke Mulneix (Beaver Falls, Riverside) added 15 for Beaver and Roi'Shay Woods (Pittsburgh, Westinghouse) finished with 14. Morgan Kurtz (Washington, Trinity) scored 12 points and Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool) added 11 as six Lady Lions were in double figures. Temple also finished with 6 rebounds.
Beaver will play again on Saturday in another PSUAC contest as they travel to PSU Wilkes-Barre with tip-off scheduled for 1pm.
