Beaver closes weekend trip with win
Beaver defeats Montreat College 91-65
Asheville, NC--- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver finished off their weekend trip to North Carolina win a victory on Saturday afternoon. After a team withdrew from the weekend tournament, Beaver once again faced off against the Cavaliers of Montreat College and the Lions came away with their first victory of the season as they prevailed by a score of 91-65.
The game opened up by Montreat taking a quick 7-1 lead but Beaver quickly respnded by answering with a 16-0 run to take a 17-7 lead in the first half. That lead by Beaver would never be lost as they continued to lead throughout the remainder of the contest in the victory.
Beaver got solid contributions throughout the line-up as they had four players in double figures. Freshman Roi'Shay Woods (Pittsburgh, Westingtonhouse) was the offensive highlight for Beaver as she finished with a game high 19 points while going 8-11 from the field. Brooke Mulneix added 17 points (Beaver Falls, Riverside) and both Amanda Temple (Avella, Avella) and Morgan Kurtz (Washington, Trinity) each added 14 points. Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, Westinghouse) grabbed 12 rebounds to go along with her 7 points and Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool, East Liverpool) dished out 4 assists in the victory.
Beaver will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Ohio Eastern to play at 7pm.
