Lady Lions Win Last Conference Game of the Season
Two players with double-doubles seal the win for Beaver

Monaca, PA- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver (14-8, 11-3 PSUAC) played at home this afternoon in against Penn State Greater Allegheny (McKeesport, PA). Today's game was a "Pink Zone" game for breast cancer awareness.
Greater Allegheny started the game out with a 5-0 run. Kalynn Hill (Montour/Pittsburgh, PA) however started the Lady Lions with a 5-0 run of their own, tying the game at five. Greater Allegheny went on a 9-2 run soon after taking a 14-7 lead with 10:07 left in the half. Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH) brought the game within one (16-15) after a 4-2 run; but Greater Allegheny soon responded with a 6-3 run to take a 22-15 lead again. After a layup by Brooke Mulneix (Riverside/Beaver Falls, PA), and a timeout by Beaver after, the Lady Lions went on a 13-2 run to closeout the half with a 30-24 lead.
After a quick layup by Mulneix to up open up the half, Greater Allegheny went on a 6-0 run to bring the game within two (32-30) with 17:29 left in the half. Amanda Temple (Avella/Avella, PA) ended the run however with a layup and an "and one" play followed by a key three point shot by Coleen Mead (Newport Harbor/Costa Mesa, CA) to open the Lady Lions lead back to eight. Greater Allegheny tried to gain momentum back in the game, but after a three point play by Tomaselli to give beaver a ten point 47-37 lead advantage, the game stayed in Beavers' hands. The Lady Lions went on to win for the day, 66-54. Today's win gave the Lady Lions the #2 seed in the PSUAC playoffs. The game will be played on February 21, 2012; the opponent as well as time and location will be announced at a later time.
For the day, Temple and Mulneix both recorded double-doubles; as Temple lead all scorers with 23 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Mulneix with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Mead and Tomaselli also added 10 points each. Beaver shot 35.7% from the field as well as from the free throw line, and 27.3% from three point range.
The Lady Lions last game of the regular season will be at home this Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m against Ohio University Eastern (St. Clairsville, OH).
