Lady Lions Put Up A Tough Fight Against Carlow

Monaca, PA- Penn State Beaver Lady Lions put up a tough battle against Carlow University in a doubles match. Game 1 would see Beaver score the first point at the bottom of the 1st inning by Third-year Selene Arteaga (Simi Valley, CA). Carlow would respond in time at the begininng of the 2nd inning scoring back-to-back points surpassing Beaver. First-year Emilee Waggoner (Conway, PA) and Fourth-year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) would help Beaver keep up with Carlow who has taken the lead. They would eventually supass Carlow in points wit Fourth-year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) making a score. Beaver would hold a lead of 8-5 until the 6th inning when Carlow would pick up the slack. Both teams would battle out the remaining innings until Carlow would eventually take home the win in a close score of 11-10. Game 2 would be a quick 5 innings that saw Beaver fall to Carlow in a final score of 16-3. Fourth-year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) and Second-year Haley Cook (Alliquippa, PA) would score these points at the end of the 2nd inning.

Game 1: The Lady Lions would have Fourth-year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) at base 4 times, hitting 3 of those. During her time up, she would make 1 run and 2 walks. First-year Emilee Waggoner (Conway, PA) would be at base 4 times hitting 2, while also making 2 runs. Fourth-year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) would also lead Beaver, being at base 4 times and hitting 2. Mackenzie would make 2 runs and 1 walk on the field. At pitch, Fourth-year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) would make 1 strike out, seeing 5 runs and 5 earned runs. 

Game 2: For Beaver, Third-year Selene Arteaga (Simi Valley, CA) and Second-year Kierstyn Mays (Sterling, IL) would both be at bat 3 times with 2 hits. Fourth-year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) would be at bat 2 times making 0 hits, but ultimately making 1 run. Second-year Haley Cook (Alliquippa, PA) would be at bat 1 time and hit once, making only 1 run. At Pitch, First-year Reza Benson (Sunbury, OH) would make 2 strikeouts, but see 6 runs and 6 earned runs. First-year Emilee Waggoner (Conway, PA) would make 1 strikeout. She would also see 6 runs and 4 earned runs.
